Projection Mapping

Turning surfaces into stories.

We use projection mapping to transform architecture, interiors, and landscapes into living canvases, where light, narrative, and space become one.

Whether illuminating the façade of a historic building or wrapping an intimate interior in moving image, our work begins with story and ends with wonder. The surface becomes something else entirely, an illusory world, a moving story, a place that didn't exist before the light hit it.

Architectural Projection Mapping

There is something quietly radical about projecting onto a building — taking something fixed and permanent and making it breathe, shift, and feel. We work with the character of a structure: its history, texture, and scale. The result is a visual narrative that belongs to the place, not just the event.

From festival commissions to brand activations and cultural celebrations, our architectural projections have illuminated castles, monuments, and city facades across Scotland and beyond.

Interior Projection Mapping

When the canvas is a hillside, a forest canopy, or a stretch of open land, the work requires a different kind of listening. Landscape projection demands an understanding of environment, atmosphere, and the way natural forms hold light.

We have created large-scale outdoor works for major events and festivals, finding the stories already alive in a place and giving them a new kind of visibility after dark.

Landscape Projection Mapping

Inside a space, projection becomes immersive in a different way - closer, more enveloping, more personal. We map onto walls, ceilings, floors, objects, and sculptural forms, creating environments where audiences don't just watch, they inhabit.

Floor projection sits within this category for us - it's part of the same spatial logic, extending the visual world beneath your feet and folding it into the room around you.

We bring this approach to museum installations, gallery spaces, distillery visitor experiences, and brand environments working closely with exhibition designers and architects to ensure the digital and physical worlds feel seamlessly joined.

Video Mapping

Some surfaces demand to be seen in full daylight. Others curve, bend, or stretch in ways a projector simply can't follow. Video mapping is how we bring those canvases to life — pairing precision-mapped content with LED arrays, curved screens, and custom display rigs to create visuals that hold their power in any environment. It's the same storytelling, the same craft, just a different kind of light.

Led by Artists

Our Approach

Bright Side Studios is led by two artists who specialise in narrative and moving image. Every projection or video‑mapped surface begins with story and ends with emotion.

We develop bespoke content for each project — animation, moving image, and visual composition created specifically for the architecture or environment in question. We collaborate closely with AV partners for technical delivery but our focus remains the creative heart: storytelling through light, motion and space.
