Message from the Skies - Hogmanay Projection Mapping, Edinburgh
For Edinburgh's Hogmanay, we brought poet Kapka Kassabova's Love Letter to Europe to life on the National Monument of Scotland, atop Calton Hill — one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Commissioned as part of Message from the Skies, and created in partnership with the Edinburgh International Book Festival and UNESCO City of Literature, the piece celebrated Scotland's deep cultural connection with Europe, performed to thousands of New Year's Eve revellers.
Working alongside composer Pippa Murphy, we translated Kassabova's poignant words into a large-scale architectural projection mapping experience — blending original animation, cascading visuals, and movement to mirror the culture, emotion, and duality at the heart of her writing.

Projection mapping that turns architecture into storytelling
Kassabova's letter speaks to the interconnectedness of European people and places, transcending national borders through shared history and culture. Our challenge was to honour that depth — using the grandeur of the National Monument as a canvas to amplify her words rather than compete with them.
The result was a powerfully immersive outdoor experience, fusing visual art and original composition to transport an audience of thousands to the heart of what she wrote. You can read Kapka Kassabova's letter in full here.
