Royal Highland Show Illuminated : Touring Projection Mapping Across Scotland
To mark 200 years of the Royal Highland Show, we created a touring series of large-scale projection mapping installations that brought the Show's history to life across the length and breadth of Scotland.
Over eight nights, the installation visited the eight original regions where the Show once took place annually — Dumfries, Ayr, Edinburgh, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Glasgow, and Stirling — rekindling the Show's deep connection to Scotland's rural communities and returning its story to the landscapes where it began.
200 years of history, told across eight regions in eight nights
Drawing on rarely seen archive footage, historical photography, and bespoke animation, each projection brought the unique character of the Show's history to the buildings and landmarks of each region — walls and facades becoming canvases for a story 200 years in the making.
The installations blended imagery, animation, and soundscapes to guide audiences through the Show's evolution — from its origins as a travelling agricultural gathering to its status as one of Scotland's most iconic annual events. For many of the communities visited, it was the first time the Show's history had been told in their own landscape since the event was last held there.
