Strange Tales 聊斋, Theatrical Projections
Commissioned by Grid Iron Theatre and the Traverse Theatre, Bright Side Studios served as video designers and projection specialists on Strange Tales 聊斋 — a boldly innovative immersive theatrical production. Our role was to craft projections that created genuine moments of wonder and strange magic, pushing the boundaries of what live performance and digital technology can achieve together.

Motion Capture, 3D Design & Live Projection - Where Digital Creatures Meet the Stage
For Strange Tales, we crafted video design that brought a supernatural narrative to life through a combination of motion capture, 3D character design, and projection mapping onto scrim material — conjuring the illusion of a monstrous digital creature materialising and vanishing on stage. The result was a dynamic, technically precise interaction between the digital and the live, allowing actor Pauline Lockhart to engage with the creature convincingly from multiple angles. A seamless blend of artistry and illusion that the audience experienced as pure magic.
